French Dressing

The French are famous for their clean, chic fashion. Two summers ago I found out why. I did a summer program and Columbia University, where I lived in a suite with about 8 other girls for four weeks. The girl in the room next to me was from France and close to perfect. Not only was she tall and gorgeous with an exotic accent, but she had the most excellent wardrobe.

While the rest of us American girls had several suitcases full of good clothes, great clothes, trendy clothes, crappy discount clothes, this girl had only a few of the most classic, perfect items that mixed and matched with everything. Where I do everything I can to avoid wearing the same outfit twice in one month, this girl would wear the same pair of shorts every day for a week and still look fabulous because of the way she put it together.

Her staples:
Since then, I've worked on paring down my wardrobe, but I just can't seem to keep my closet from overflowing. I love shopping and have a bad habit of spreeing at H&M (how can you resist such affordable fashion??), but I still dream of one day having the perfect closet full of quality, classic items that go with everything (plus some fun extras, of course).
